So I came upon what I thought was a bit of an issue on #
Hubzilla today. I posted a fic rec, and because I like my fic recs (especially the potentially problematic ones) to stay within fandom, I hit the privacy button.
I set the privacy of the post to my Fandom profile group, which isn't a Privacy group at all, it's just those people who I've given the permissions to view my special Fandom-only profile as opposed to the default. It's pretty much the same set of people who belong to my Fandom privacy group, so I didn't think much of it, and posted.
Afterwards, I was like, urgh. I should have set it to an actual privacy group, because it's so much easier to edit those groups. I don't have to go through my entire connections list to check that the right people are in the right group, I can just go to /group (install the Privacy Groups app and you'll find it in your app menu) and edit the desired group.
I left it, because I couldn't be bothered deleting and reposting, and figured I'd worry about the fact I sort of had two identical groups another time and carried on with my day.
Later on I was like, hey, there's a thing I should add to my profile (I've since forgotten what that was in all the excitement) and I clicked on the 'Edit Profiles' button.
Then I saw this:
...and I was like, hang about.
I've never bothered to click that before. I've always clicked the profile name links and edited the profiles and that was all. But because earlier today I was like 'gee, it would be so much better if we had a profile visibility editor thingy like we do with the Privacy Groups' I obviously jumped on it.
And I found this:
Which is completely AWESOME and just what I needed.
So I think I can probably nix my fandom privacy group. I don't really need it now that I know I can check that everyone who is supposed to be able to view my fandom profile can view it and I can also use this group to set fandom-only post privacy. Yay!
