One of my concerns about going whole hog on Hubzilla while the rest of fandom does the other thing (whatever it may be), is having locked stuff (a good thing) when people you might want to access it aren't on the Hubzilla network (not so useful).
Then I remembered there's an app for that:
Guest AccessOnce installed, it'll give you a form to make a username and a password for your guest, an expiry date, and Individual Permissions just like you can set for anyone you connect with on the actual Hubzilla network.
