There's been some discussion here about what makes fanfic feel like fanfic, vs. profic, and whether there's a difference. It seems to boil down to "I know it when I read it" and I don't have anything more substantial to offer than that. But when a fic author does write profic it often has that "feel." This is really true of the Greta Helsing series that starts with Strange Practice
. I zipped through all three books in this series and absolutely loved them. If you enjoy the "found family" trope, or if you get a kick out of pastiches with a combo of characters from literature, then these books are for you.
The author bio in the back surprisingly includes her fic author name (coldhope). Coldhope wrote one of my all-time favorite Bucky recovery stories The Second Law
. Not surprisingly, it also has a wonderful emphasis on "found family." I really appreciated reading a story where Tony is still the version I loved from the Iron Man movies and not the changeling we got in AoU and Civil War.
